Song Stories and Lyrics

Water to Wine I Am Not My OwnHealer Hallelujah What a SaviorFirst Loved Us

“Water to Wine” is a song about restoration. Jesus is taking the waters of judgement and turning them into the sweetness of forgiveness and renewal. “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!” [Psalm 34:8]

I was, empty, just a shell with nothing there inside me
Thought that I was through
Then You came and filled me up with water
The stuff that I was made for
But that was nothing new.

There, in a moment something changed
The world would never be the same…

You turned my water into wine I was dead you gave me life
and I can taste the difference I can taste the difference

We were lost we were helpless
dead in our sins when Love was crucified
Then you came filled us up with water
The Spirit we were made for and you raised us into life.

You’re turning Water into Wine
We were Dead you gave us life
I can taste the difference, I can taste the difference

You saw our profit as a loss You said to live take up your cross
And I can taste the difference, I can taste the difference

You turned my water into wine I was dead you gave me life
and I can taste the difference I can taste the difference

You turned my water into wine I was dead you gave me life
and I can taste the difference I can taste the difference

This song was born from Question 1 of the Heidelberg Catechism. The Catechism written in 1563 during the protestant reformation and is focused on the comfort of the believer in Christ. Question 1 reads as follows:

Q. What is your only comfort in life and in death?

A. That I am not my own, but belong—body and soul, in life and in death—to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven; in fact, all things must work together for my salvation. Because I belong to him, Christ, by his Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him.

I am not my own, I belong to you
In body and soul, I belong to you
In life and in death, your comfort is true
I am not my own, I belong to you.

I am not my own, You have made me whole
I am not my own, You won’t let me go
I am not my own, You have made me whole
You won’t let me go, You won’t let me go

By your voice I know, that I belong to you,
And you will bring me home.
Cause I belong to you. Forever I’ll live,
For your purpose and truth.
Cause I am not my own, I belong to you.

I am not my own, You have made me whole
I am not my own, You won’t let me go
I am not my own, You have made me whole
You won’t let me go, You won’t let me go

You paid my debt with your precious blood, Set me free from the evil one.
Not a hair can fall from my head without your will, You’re sovereign.
Every tear, Every sigh, Every laugh, every cry,
Not a hair can fall from my head you are God, You’re sovereign

I am not my own, You have made me whole
I am not my own, You won’t let me go
I am not my own, You have made me whole
You won’t let me go, You won’t let me go

I am not my own, I belong to you
In body and soul, I belong to you

In Leviticus 14 the Priest goes outside the camp to the leper to pronounce him “clean”(healed). Our need for healing runs deeper than terrible diseases like leprosy. We need healing in the inmost parts of our hearts. We need complete healing from our sinful selves. The image of the priest and the leper points to the true healing we have in Christ. In the person of Jesus Christ the divine entered into our misery, took our sins on himself on the cross, and he cleanses us from all unrighteousness. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” [Psalm 147:3]

You came to me, I was a leper
You washed me clean and set me free
Your blood speaks, your word is better
The life you give is ever sweet, it’s ever sweet

You’re my healer, Almighty God
When my heart can’t take anymore
You give me peace to lie down in sleep
For you alone are my strength
You’re my Healer almighty God

You heal my heart, and bind my wounds
Cover up my nakedness
You’ve seen my tears, you know my fears
And in your arms, I find my rest, I find my rest

You’re my healer, Almighty God
When my heart can’t take anymore
You give me peace to lie down in sleep
For you alone are my strength
You’re my Healer almighty God

When life is dark, your love is light.
When I give in to a losing fight I cry to you, you listen close
you bind me up, so I raise my voice!
you bind me up, so I raise my voice! So I raise my voice

You’re my healer, Almighty God
When my heart can’t take anymore
You give me peace to lie down in sleep
For you alone are my strength
You’re my Healer almighty God

A song praising the work of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Man of Sorrows what a name
For the Son of God who came
Ruined sinners to reclaim,
Hallelujah, What a Savior

Bearing Shame and scoffing rude
In my place condemned He stood
Sealed My pardon with His Blood
Hallelujah what a Savior

Hallelujah, What a Savior, Hallelujah, What a Savior

Lifted up was He to die
It is finished was His cry
Now in heav’n exalted high
Hallelujah, what a Savior

Hallelujah, What a Savior, Hallelujah, What a Savior
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, What a Savior

When He comes, our glorious King
All His ransomed home to bring
Then anew this song we’ll sing
Hallelujah, what a Savior

Hallelujah, What a Savior, Hallelujah, What a Savior
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, What a Savior
What a Savior, What a Savior, What a Savior

“First Loved Us” was written to remind us that our love for one another flows out of Christ’s preemptive love for us, and this love is the way the world will know that we are His disciples (John 13:34-35).

Before the start, You so loved the world
You sent Your Son, so that all may know
You’re endless love, It won’t give up
You’re endless love, It won’t give up

The World will know, the way that You love, By the way that we love
Jesus You first loved us, Jesus You first loved us
May we see, Every heart in need
May we hear, Every cry and plea
O let us be Your hands and feet
We will be Your hands and feet

Till the world knows, The way that You love
By the way that we love, Jesus You first loved us
The World will know, the way that You love,
By the way that we love
Jesus You first loved us,
Jesus You first loved us

God the Father, God the Son, God the Spirit, Three in one
One in glory, One in love, May we testify, All that You’ve done
Every daughter, every son, one in body, bound in love.
You’re endless love, it won’t give up, it won’t give up, it won’t give up
You’re endless love, it won’t give up, it won’t give up, it won’t give up

The world will know, The way that You love
By the way that we love, Jesus You first loved us
The World will know, the way that You love,
By the way that we love
Jesus You first loved us,
Jesus You first loved us

Before the start you so loved the World.
