River of Life has helped me break down the misconceptions I’ve had about God being distant. My small group leader helped me learn to hear from God, and over time, I now understand that He actually wants to talk to me. The program has also made me more aware and honest, emotionally and spiritually. Thank you, ROL, and all the small group leaders and intercessors for taking the time to serve and pray!
River of Life’s invitation to slow down and understand what has shaped my life thus far has given me the opportunity to unpack and process in ways I can’t on my own. With each week having the opportunity to come clean at the foot of the cross and be washed by the water in Small Group, I have come to know FATHER GOD and HIS many attributes in the way HE cares for and speaks to us all!
It has shown me my mother and father wounds and what it has done to my thinking and how I react to people and situations. I now recognize those traits and am working through them to be the person God wants me to be. I have a deeper relationship with God and finally believe He truly loves me, scars and all.
My relationship with God has completely changed. I no longer view Him the same, and I am confident that He loves me as His very own precious child. I also am now experiencing compassion for my parents.
Coming into the group, I had a lot of pain, but didn’t understand why I was struggling so much. Through prayer and the ministry of our leader, I was able to see areas of unforgiveness and wrong thinking. By uncovering these causes week after week, I was incrementally set free in new ways to receive God’s healing and to begin developing healthier patterns. I feel I am on a good course now, after many years of suffering, and look forward to continued healing in the weeks and years to come.
I came to River of Life looking for knowledge and understanding. Instead, I found myself welcomed as a son into God’s family.
It was transformative for me. Following a horrible divorce, I was so broken and on the verge of suicide. This ministry helped save my life by helping me realize my identity in Christ and learn how to really believe it for the first time. I had realized that part of my Christianity was missing.
I have come to better understand where I need the deepest healing and to know and trust that God wants to finish the good work He has started in me. ROL has been imperative in helping me identify root causes to past and current actions that have held me captive in guilt and shame. Releasing those things into a safe space with my small group has helped me realize that what’s in the light can no longer keep me captive in darkness. Praise God for these sweet people and for this program!
This ministry has been extremely helpful and has allowed me to be completely transparent about the sin and trauma that I have carried lots of shame over. The community aspect in our small group is probably the most valuable part to me. I felt very heard, validated, and cared for.
Gave me the space and time to dig deep and think back to childhood. Sharing with others was uncomfortable but profoundly liberating and healing.
River of Life revealed to me that the root of most of my issues comes from a fear of abandonment, something I had not realized was a connected issue in my life. I have felt the Father’s love more deeply and have been able to forgive myself and others for past sin/trauma, and it has given me newfound freedom.
For most of my life, I felt that God wasn’t for me. I now know that He is.
I do feel that I have a better appreciation for the doctrine of justification by faith alone.
I am worthy of God’s love in all my brokenness. God wants to hear from me every day, all day. The good and the bad.
The teachings, testimony, and small group time enabled me to see the root issues in my life that led to sinful attitudes and actions. Confession within community became a way of life.
It shone a light in the darkest places; it brought me under God’s authority and gave me direction by experiencing not only the intended study but also experiencing the dynamics and circumstances within the group and our time at the Cross.
